In recent court proceedings, the 9th Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in Thane granted interim custody of six horses to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India following their use in illegal racing on a highway. PETA India filed an application seeking interim custody of the six horses on 8 October after the Kashigaon police station registered an FIR and seized the horses under Sections 291, 281, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with Sections 11(1)(a) and 11(1)(l) of The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PCA) Act, 1960. The court, acting in accordance with the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Care and Maintenance of Case Property Animals) Rules, 2017, notified under the PCA Act, 1960, was pleased to allow PETA India’s application seeking interim custody of the horses and rejected the application for custody of the horses filed by the accused owners in the matter.

There has been a significant upgrade in Mumbai’s infrastructure in the recent times and a brand new RO-RO ferry survive is the latest addition. A new Vasai-Bhayandar Ro-Ro ferry service will be running on a regular basis from 21st February between Vasai and Bhayandar that is going to cut down the commute time between the two destinations to 15 minutes. This is the second RoRo service in the MMR. The first one operates on the Ferry Wharf and Mandwa route. The newly-inaugurated service will ply eight times a day. A teenager, driving a car without license, dragged an on-duty traffic constable on his car's bonnet for about 1.5 kilometres after the constable stopped him for jumping a traffic signal. The incident took place at Vasai in Palghar district of Maharashtra on Sunday evening. Vikas Walkar, father of Shraddha Walkar - who was brutally killed by her live-in partner Aftab Poonawala in Delhi, met the newly-appointed commissioner of Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) police Madhukar Pandey on Friday. The meeting went on for around 40 minutes at the Police Commissioner's office in Mira Road. “I met the police commissioner and have requested him to conduct a thorough investigation into the November 2020 complaint letter of my daughter Shraddha who submitted it before Tulinj police station. Had the police acted swiftly on my daughter’s written complaint against Poonawala, my daughter would have been alive,” Walkar told media persons. “The commissioner has promised all help and I am thankful to him,” he added. Speaking about the DNA report, Walkar said, “It is a crucial piece of evidence in the case”. BJP leader Kirit Saumya, while giving information to the media in this matter, said that he had a 40-minute conversation with Commissioner Madhukar Pandey, and Madhukar Pandey has assured him that he will conduct a fair investigation into the matter as soon as possible. He said that the police will also investigate officers and employees who have been negligent in this matter, along with this, and will meet the top officials of Delhi Police.
