Padma Bhushan Shri Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya’s first initiative in education was the founding of a school in 1942 in rural Maharashtra, to provide quality holistic education. With a presence across rural Maharashtra and Karnataka, the Somaiya Trust manages schools that are grounded in excellence and service to the community. Among these institutions, The Somaiya School (TSS) stands tall as the Trust’s first English-medium CBSE-affiliated school in Mumbai, established in 2012. In just over a decade, TSS has truly lived up to its motto, “the one who strives achieves,” by fostering all-round development in students from nursery to senior secondary.

A landmark moment for TSS was the launch of its Senior Secondary Section in 2019, initially offering Humanities and Science streams. Responding to the evolving needs of students, the school soon expanded to include Commerce. The results speak for themselves—TSS has maintained 100 percent pass rates for the last three years, with numerous students scoring above 90 percent. This success is backed by a diverse curriculum with over 22 subjects to choose from and a team of highly qualified and dedicated educators.

But TSS offers more than just academic excellence. The school ensures students grow into well-rounded individuals through a wide array of co-curricular and extracurricular activities. From art and sports to debates and technology, students are encouraged to explore their passions and develop essential life skills. A key highlight is the newly established DST Prayashala Lab (FabLab), supported by a grant from the Nidhi Prayas Program. This state-of-the-art facility provides students with hands-on experience using advanced tools like laser printing and cutting, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation.

TSS also places a strong emphasis on real-world learning through its Social Work initiatives and summer internships, helping students gain valuable experience beyond the classroom. Even after graduation, the school continues to support its students with academic guidance and admission assistance, ensuring they are well-prepared for the future.

TSS alumni have gone on to excel in a variety of fields, from design and architecture to law, chartered accountancy, and pharmacy. They have secured places at some of the country’s most prestigious institutions, including IITs, NLUs, NIDs, Mumbai University, Ashoka University, Krea University, and ATLAS SkillTech, among others.
