Days ahead of the G20 summit in Delhi, PM Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation on Aug 28 with Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Putin conveyed his inability to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi. He informed that Russia would be represented by its Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. PM Modi and Prez Putin also exchanged their views on regional and global issues of mutual concern. Notably, PM Modi thanked President Putin for consistent support for all initiatives under India’s G20 Presidency. The two leaders agreed to remain in touch. Meanwhile, several areas of the national capital lit up on August 28 ahead of the upcoming G20 Summit. The G20 Summit is being organised in Delhi from September 9-10. Many heads of state and diplomats including US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to be attending the G20 Leaders` Summit. The Delhi government has issued a notification for public holiday on September 8, 9 and 10, in view of the G-20 Summit scheduled to be held in the national capital on those dates.
