After a long haul of over 40 days, Israel and Hamas have agreed on a four-day ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. The decision has been made to allow the release of 50 hostages held in Gaza in exchange for 150 Palestinians jailed in Israel. Other than that, the entry of humanitarian aid into the besieged Gaza Strip will also be allowed. Israel’s Government released a statement describing the conditions of the release of hostages. As per the statement, 50 women and children will be released over four days during which there will be a pause in fighting. Hamas said that they would release 50 hostages in exchange for 150 Palestinian women, children who are held in Israeli jails. However, Israel`s PM Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that the country is still at war with Hamas. Other than Israelis, over half the hostages held foreign and dual citizenship from some 40 countries including US, Britain, France. According to the Israeli media, the first release of hostages is expected on November 23.
