Anti-government sentiments are rising in Pakistan as supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan continue to protest for his release. Despite a ban on gatherings in Islamabad, Khan`s supporters rallied in defiance, demonstrating their discontent with the ruling coalition. In response, police employed unconventional tactics, setting up shipping containers and deploying large numbers of police and paramilitary forces to block the protestors. Nevertheless, many supporters managed to bypass these barricades, marching less than a kilometer toward the country’s parliament. This rally is part of a series of protests that have taken place since last month, aiming to demand Khan’s release and challenge the legitimacy of the current government, which Khan has described as “illegitimate” due to allegations of a fraudulent election that led to its formation.
