During this extraordinary meeting, the children representing the OSCAR Foundation shared their life experiences, their dedication to education, their passion for football, and their commitment to gender equality with Prime Minister Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty. They also took the chance to discuss their numerous new experiences.
These children are currently on an educational tour to the UK, where they are not only engaging in friendly football matches with students from host schools but also participating in a cultural exchange program organized by OSCAR International. This initiative aims to foster mutual understanding and promote the power of sports and education in changing lives.
As part of this tour, the children were privileged to meet OSCAR's Royal Patron, HRH the Duchess of Edinburgh GVCO, during a dinner hosted by Bradfield College. The Duchess addressed all the children and other guests, expressing her continued support for the OSCAR Foundation. She also shared her own experiences from visiting the Ambedkar Nagar community in Mumbai, the hometown of OSCAR's founder, Ashok Rathod.
Ashok Rathod, Founder of the OSCAR Foundation, emphasized the significance of their meeting with the UK Prime Minister and how the power of sports can transform lives. He underlined the positive impact of OSCAR's football and life skills program, which has empowered thousands of children and youth in low-income communities in India since 2010.
This UK tour, the fourth of its kind, allowed the children to participate in numerous football matches, educational workshops, and sightseeing tours in London. It marks a vital step in the OSCAR Foundation's ongoing mission to encourage children to stay in school, equip them with life skills, and prepare them for a resilient and promising future.
