Google celebrates renowned gay rights activist Frank Kameny with a doodle

In a series of tweets, Google said that today's doodle was celebrating Kameny 'who paved the way for decades of progress' and thanked him for 'his efforts, in 1975 the Civil Service Commission finally lifted its ban on hiring #LGBTQ employees.'

Google, on Wednesday, honoured American astronomer and gay rights activist Dr. Frank Kameny with a doodle. The search engine giant celebrated the start of the Pride Month with the doodle on Dr. Kameny, who is one of the renowned figures of the American LGBTQ+ rights movement.

In a series of tweets on the Google Doodle official handle, Google said Kameny was "one of the most prominent figures of the US LGBTQ rights movement" and thanked him “for courageously paving the way for decades of progress."


Google also shared a blog post on Dr. Frank Kameny, which describes his fights for the rights of the LGBTQ community.
