American woman was busy tweeting while 2-yr-old son lay dying

Shellie Ross sent a message to her 5,000-plus followers 34 minutes after paramedics arrived at her home to revive her son, Bryson, who was found floating in the family pool.

The two-year-old is thought to have gained access to the pool area after a gate was left open. After her eldest son called ambulance officers Ross tweeted, "Please pray like never before, my 2 yr old fell in the pool".

Anger

Nearly five hours later, after her son had been pronounced dead, Ross tweeted again. "Remembering my million dollar baby," she wrote.

Ross, meanwhile, defended her actions. "I didn't tweet-by-tweet the accident," she said.

The tweets caused debate among various online forums, with some angry at the timing of her tweets.

Food blogger Madison McGraw said she thought the tweets could have been a hoax.

"The first thing I thought when I saw the tweet was that it was very sad," she said. "But then I thought, 'Who would tweet that her son just drowned? I couldn't believe it."

Twitter Blocked

Hackers briefly blocked access to Twitter, steering traffic to another website where a group calling itself the Iranian Cyber Army claimed responsibility. Users were yesterday redirected to a page that had a picture of a green flag and a message, "This site has been hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army."
