We have all heard of the long arm of the law, but any crook who has his collar felt by PC Anthony Wallyn may want to crane their neck.

At 7 feet 2 inches Britain’s tallest policeman is in the spotlight after being stationed to stand guard outside the Queen’s hospital.

Pc Wallyn, who is known as Big Tower by his colleagues, was deployed outside London’s King Edward VIII’s Hospital – alongside the smallest officer in the Met’s Westminster Borough Support Unit, PC Tony Thich, who is 5 feet 6 inches.

“I get 100-500 requests for a photo each day,” he admits while he stands guard outside the hospital where the Queen is being treated for gastroenteritis.

If the Queen – who is 5 ft 4 inches — were to leave the hospital via the front door, she may have to walk past PC Wallyn.
“It would make a nice photo,” he joked.

Later, in the day, the Queen left the hospital after making a speedy recovery. On her way out, she thanked the staff.
