An Indo-Canadian man has been charged of killing his two teenaged stepsons and critically injuring his wife in a multiple shooting incident.

An Indo-Canadian man has been charged of killing his two teenaged stepsons and critically injuring his wife in a multiple shooting incident.


Mahinder Singh Johal, 66, has been charged of two counts of second-degree murder and and a count of attempted murder of his 35-year-old wife by British Columbia police on Father's Day, said Dale Carr, the spokeperson of Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.


Johal was produced before a Surrey Provinicial court yesterday, a day after his arrest. Police recieved an emergency call on Sunday morning.


When they reached the home on 126th Street at Sunridge Estates townhouse of Newton in Surrey they found the bodies of the two teenagers and critically wounded Johal's wife.

The two slain brothers have been identified as 17-year-old Amarjit Gill and 15-year-old Ranjit Gill. Identity of Johal's wife, who is in hospital in critical condition, is yet to ascertained.

"Her condition has since been upgraded to stable, after she underwent surgery late Sunday," Carr said.

The two children and their mother had moved to Newton in Surrey from India about eight months ago.
