Lahore: Four teachers of a private school have been arrested in Pakistan's Punjab province for allegedly sexually assaulting seven students during summer vacation, police said today.

The teachers of the school in Sargodha district, some 200 kilometres from Lahore, assaulted the students on the pretext of holding special classes.

"Only seven children were asked to attend the classes in the school during the summer vacation that led to suspicion by parents," a police official said.

The teachers had told parents that their children were being called to the school for learning of a holy book by heart.

Police have confirmed the arrest of four teachers who confessed to have committed the crime.

The action was taken on the complaint of some parents, police said, adding that they are also looking for the accomplices of the suspects.

The arrested teachers are being interrogated to confirm if they had sexually assaulted more students, the official said.

A few month ago, police had arrested over 20 people for allegedly sexually abusing about 250 children in Kasur district, some 50 kilometres from Lahore.

The case has been is pending in anti-terrorism court.
