Gordon Ramsay
In a global world, where the Internet has melted borders as fast as an ice cream in the Mumbai heat, there is news from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay. Ramsay, who is a well-known face here, too, thanks to television, has spoken out about feeling shaken after a bad cycling accident in Connecticut, USA. The Hell’s Kitchen star said he needed treatment in a hospital and felt like a purple potato thanks to all the bruising.

Most importantly, though, he spoke out about the importance of wearing a helmet. His cycling helmet saved his life, he stated, that without it, he probably would not be there at all. He added that he did not care how short the journey is, or, how expensive the helmet is. One just has to wear a helmet while cycling.
On his Instagram account, he also shared a before and after photograph showing substantial damage to his helmet. We have cycling groups, solo cyclists early morning in the city. They must have a helmet on, a good quality helmet on their practice rides. This should be non-negotiable for them, part of their riding gear, so to speak.
While we do not have ‘drives’ like we have for mo’bike riders who have the helmet rule, cyclists themselves must know this is extremely important and invest in a top-quality helmet. The helmet must go along with a bicycle in good condition, neon vest or bands to ensure visibility if cycling when the sun is setting or it is not yet dawn and good shoes. Let us extend this warning to a number of people on small scooters and bikes, too, not just bicycles.
The rains will soon be here in earnest and roads will be slick, making this even more important. Heed the words—I do not care how short the journey is, the celebrity chef knows what he is doing in the kitchen, and knows what he is talking about when it comes to safety for your head, too.
