The Mangalore pub incident makes a mockery of our democracy. Such moral policing should be punished, say My NEWS readers

This letter is to express utter shock and anger at the recent attack on women at a pub in Mangalore by members of the Sri Ram Sena. Such groups are nothing, but self-appointed moral police.

This attack not only questions the fabric of our civil rights, but also raises serious queries about the safety of women in India.u00a0

u00a0Who has given the Sri Ram Sena the right to judge the morality of others in our country? Severe punishment must be meted out to the perpetrators of the attack.

Publicity stunt?u00a0
As Valentine's Day approaches, those opposing western culture come to the forefront. Such groups want to exhibit their power by attacking the innocent. This was evident from the recent attack on girls in a
Mangalore pub by Sri Ram Sena activists. Till Saturday, nobody knew about this group of Hindu hardliners.

It would not be wrong to call these attackers terrorists. The common man should come forward and form a group to counter such goondaism. Such acts of social terrorism need to be condemned strongly.u00a0u00a0

India's Taliban
We proudly say that India is the largest democracy in the world. But is India really a modern civilised republic? The Mangalore pub incident seems to defy our stand.u00a0

A group of 20 people indulged in violence and attacked the innocents. And what's worse is that they enjoyed the support of our politicians.u00a0 And this is the situation in every state.u00a0u00a0

Many outfits like the Sri Ram Sena are spreading social terrorism in India. These self-styled moral police that show intolerance against liberal women function like the Taliban. They do not have the right to protect Indian culture when they have no values themselves.

It's a shame that after 60 years of adopting the constitution, such heinous acts take place in our country.

Emulating MNS
What happened at the Mangalore pub is deplorable.

Goondaism, which is being promoted in Mumbai by the Shiv Sena and the MNS, is now spreading to other states.

The Sri Ram Sena appears to have been inspired by intolerant parties in Maharashtra. And we have no one to blame, but the government. Their soft stand against vandalism has made social terrorists bolder.u00a0
