After the Lokpal, it was the turn of a revised Sports Bill to attract attention.

Supposedly meant to increase transparency among sports bodies, it was rejected by Cabinet.

This prompted a certain Ankush Chibber to send a message to Anna Hazare: 'I know we've had our problems, but I'm going to be with you if you fast for the Sports Bill to be passed.'

Pallavi Ghosh, referring to Sharad Pawar's intention of taking the matter to Sonia Gandhi if the Bill were passed, tweeted: 'In the presence of the Prime Minister, this is an acknowledgement that Sonia alone matters.'

And, finally, this perceptive comment from Khushboo Bhatia: 'Politics is the art of postponing decisions until they are no longer relevant.'

Off the scale
The National Institute of Technology, Warangal, clogged timelines in the wake of reports that a 21-year-old computer science student had secured the highest ever pay package of Rs 45 lakh per annum.

Aditya Narayanan tweeted: 'Please understand that cost to company and in hand salaries are two different things.'

Someone with the handle Fake IPL Player added: 'I hear the 45 lakh offered to the student by Facebook includes Farmville assets worth 40 lakhs.'

For the tech-savvy?
Reports of our MPs being given iPads led to much mirth. Yogen Bobde tweeted: 'I wonder what they will use it for other than to throw them at each other in Parliament.'

Swapnil Waghmare added: 'Team Anna will get a LokPad to prevent the SarkariPad from getting corrupt.'

Shubhashish believed 'the app store will accept money only from Swiss accounts,' while Soumik Sen tweeted: 'Ajmal Qasab will get a SarkariPad it supposedly never hangs.'

The last word
From industrialist Anand Mahindra: 'Mumbai in the bottom 20 percent on a global survey of 'liveability'' of cities. Either it's a wake-up call (for the nth time) or we revel in our slumdog status.'
