Leading gold and diamond jewellery brand Malabar Gold was trolled on Twitter for its latest advertisement featuring actor Kareena Kapoor. The advertisement went viral on social media on Friday after several netizens criticised the brand for a 'missing bindi' on Kareena Kapoor's forehead, terming it as a 'disregard for tradition'. The advertisement was reportedly released ahead of Akshay Tritya and Diwali.

#Boycott_MalabarGold and #No_Bindi_No_Business trended, as many social media users commented on the ad.

A twitter user wrote, “Informed All Relatives and Friends to Boycott Malabar Gold Outlets."

Another user wrote, 'So called 'The Responsible Jeweller' releasing an ad with Kareena Kapoor Khan without a bindi for Akshaya Tritiya! Do they care about Hindu culture?'

Another user said, the same Malabar gold which ran a quiz on #Pakistan Independence Day now runs ads with Kareena Kapoor Khan without bindi for Akshaya Tritiya campaign. What does this show?”

Earlier, clothing brand FabIndia faced an outrage on social media from right-wing groups for naming its festive collection, Jashn-e-Riwaaz (celebration of tradition), SAY WHY IT WAS TROLLED. The brand later pulled down the ad.

Similarly, Tata Group's jewellery brand Tanishq was also forced to withdraw an ad that showed an interfaith couple at a baby shower organised for a Hindu bride by her Muslim in-laws. It withdrew the advertisement after being trolled on social media platforms.
