In a first, a 70-year-old Canadian national suffering from breathing issues has been diagnosed with ‘climate change’.

According to Times Colonist, a Canadian daily, doctors said that the patient’s condition worsened due to heatwaves and bad air quality.

Dr Kyle Merritt, the consulting doctor, stated that for the first time in over 10 years, he has used the term 'climate change' while writing the patient's diagnosis, Times Colonist reported.

"She has diabetes. She has some heart failure. She lives in a trailer with no air conditioning. All of her health problems have worsened. And she's really struggling to stay hydrated," Dr. Merritt  was quoted as saying.

He also said that it is important to identify and sort out the primary cause rather than just treating patients' symptoms.

Earlier in June, Canada witnessed one of the worst heat waves and hundreds of people have died. British Columbia’s interior also suffers some of the greatest fallout from air pollution in the country, the daily reported.
