Shooting is for reality TV show Born in the Wild
A new reality show will film young mothers giving birth in the wilderness. Born in the Wild will tell the story of mums who not only wish to forego pain relief and birthing pools, but want to deliver their babies with no help at all.

Birthing locations are expected include creeks, woods and forests in America. Announcing the show, TV channel Lifetime said: “What happens when the craziest experience of a woman’s life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors?”
The series is inspired by a shocking YouTube video showing a woman giving birth in a tropical creek in the US. The shocking video has been watched more than 20 million times. But the controversial au naturel programme has drawn criticism, with Ron Jaekle, a specialist at the University of Cincinnati Medical Centre, telling Entertainment Weekly: “I understand everybody wants to believe we over-medicalise pregnancy and that it’s a natural process.
“But it’s a natural process that historically has caused an extraordinary loss of life.” Eli Lehrer, Lifetime’s head of nonfiction programming, said: “Our presence at these births is going to make them far safer than if they were doing it on their own.”
