A massive landslide hit Kerala`s Wayanad district early today, July 30, following heavy rains. The landslide struck Meppady, Mundakkai, and Chural Mala, causing 24 deaths and injuring over 70 people. Emergency teams, including 250 members from various rescue organizations, are working hard to help those trapped. Dr. Sekhar Lukose Kuriakose, Member Secretary of Kerala State Disaster Management, explained that the Wayanad landslide was caused by a river splitting into two, which contributed to the disaster.
