On December 30, South Korea’s acting President Choi Sang-mok paid his respects to the victims of the country’s deadliest air disaster. The tragedy occurred when a Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 made a belly landing at Muan International Airport. The plane skidded off the runway, crashed into a wall, and exploded in a fireball. Sadly, all 175 passengers and four of the six crew members on board were killed. Two crew members survived and were rescued. Following the incident, President Choi ordered an immediate safety inspection of the airline`s entire operation system to prevent future accidents. The government is now focusing on ensuring better safety measures for air travel.
