Sanjay Raut, a leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction), criticized former Chief Justice of India, D.Y. Chandrachud, for his role in the "unexpected" results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. Raut blamed Chandrachud for delaying the decision on the case related to the Shiv Sena party symbol and the alleged unconstitutional government in the state. According to Raut, the delay in delivering a timely judgment led to the political instability in Maharashtra, and he accused the BJP of being against Eknath Shinde becoming Chief Minister. Raut further stated that history would remember Justice Chandrachud negatively for his role in the matter, with his name being written in "black letters" for not providing a quick resolution.
