On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three new criminal laws in India. These laws are the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, which came into effect on July 1. They replace the old British-era laws, including the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Indian Evidence Act. Chandigarh has become the first place in India to fully implement these laws. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also confirmed that the laws have been successfully applied in Chandigarh. This marks a significant step in modernizing India`s legal system, aimed at providing better justice and security for citizens.
