In a historic achievement at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker clinched the bronze medal in the Women`s Air Pistol event on Sunday. With a score of 221.7, Bhaker not only secured India`s first medal at these Games but also became the first Indian woman to medal in shooting at the Olympics. This win marks a redemption for Bhaker after a malfunction in Tokyo 2020. She is also the first Indian woman in 20 years to reach an individual shooting final, following Suma Shirur in 2004. South Korea`s Ye Jin won gold with an Olympic record of 243.2, while Kim Yeji took silver with 241.3 points. On the opening day, Bhaker qualified for the final by finishing third in the Women`s 10 Metre Air Pistol, while Rhythm Sangwan placed 15th and did not advance. Watch video.
