Pakistan PM Sharif “open to talks” with India, highlights water issues in Tehran

Troubled by India’s diplomatic outreach against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Shehbaz Sharif is seen rushing to ‘friendly’ nations Iran and Turkey for ‘morale’ aid. Scrambling to salvage its image in the wake of India`s `Operation Sindoor’, Shehbaz Sharif is on a 4 nation visit that includes Turkiye, Iran, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. During his visit to Iran, the Pakistani PM proposed to have talks with India “for the sake of peace on water issues with neighbour, India.” As Pakistan is running dry after abeyance of the Indus Water Treaty by India post-Pahalgam attack, Islamabad has been desperate to hold ‘water talks’ with India.
