The rapid construction of India’s mega bullet train project is underway at a record pace in Maharashtra. A 394-meter ‘ADIT’ has been excavated at Ghansoli for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project. This will accelerate the construction of the 21 km bullet train tunnel between BKC and Shilphata in Maharashtra. Taxing to ‘X’, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the progress report of the ongoing project. The excavation work for ‘ADIT’ started in Dec 2023 and has been completed in a short period of six months. A total of 214 controlled blasts were carried out using 27,515 kg of explosives under the supervision of experts. The 26m deep inclined ADIT is 3.3 km long via the NATM (approx) and will facilitate the construction of the tunnel. Earlier in Oct 2022, EAM Jaishankar stated that “bullet train is on its way” and would be inaugurated by PM Modi soon. The sanctioned cost of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project is Rs 1,08,000 crore. However, anticipated timeline and final cost can only be ascertained after the award of all contract packages.
