In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi sought a discussion on a range of issues — including the violence in Manipur and Centre-state relations — during the upcoming five-day special session of Parliament. Stating that the Congress “most certainly” wants to participate in the upcoming session, Sonia listed out some “matters of public concern and importance” that she hoped would be discussed. In a press conference, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said this is the first time that no agenda has been discussed or listed in the business of the House. However, he added that the INDIA bloc is ready to attend the discussion and they will not boycott it. Meanwhile, an official dinner invite to G20 delegates from the Rashtrapati Bhawan surfaced on Tuesday, which sparked controversy. The invite had `President of Bharat` written on it instead of the usual `President of India`. The INDIA bloc has been opposing this renaming and have slammed the government for this step.
