Amid the recent attacks of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh, India has lodged a protest with Bangladesh. India has expressed a deep concern over the arrest and denial of bail to a Hindu priest in Bangladesh, Chinmoy Krishna Das. In a statement, MEA urged the Bangladeshi government to ensure the safety and security of Hindus. MEA highlighted that the incident came amid a series of attacks on Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. Notably, the latest act of violence came in the light of incidents of arson, looting, theft, vandalism, and desecration of religious sites. Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on November 25 and was produced before a Chittagong court today that refused to entertain his bail plea. He faces a sedition case at Kotwali police station, and he was arrested in connection with that case and brought to court.
