Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar Jail on September 13, following a release warrant issued by the Rouse Avenue court. The Supreme Court granted him bail in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. Kejriwal had earlier received interim bail in a related money laundering case. Special Judge Rakesh Syal approved his release after accepting two surety bonds. To expedite the process, the release warrant was sent through a special messenger.
