PM Modi accused the Congress party of misleading both the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the nation at large by implementing Article 370 for an extended period.
Extending advance wishes for the upcoming holy month of Ramzan and Maha Shivratri, the Prime Minister addressed a public rally at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
During his visit, Modi inaugurated several development projects aimed at boosting the overall progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
This marked Modi's first visit to Kashmir since the BJP-led government's decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and restructure it into Union territories in August 2019.
The Prime Minister expressed his delight at being among the people of Srinagar and emphasised that the newly inaugurated projects will significantly contribute to the region's development.
Modi reaffirmed that the development of the union territory is a top priority and further noted that tourism and empowerment of farmers are key pathways to building a thriving and developed Jammu and Kashmir.
Describing Jammu and Kashmir as the crown jewel of the nation, the Prime Minister said the union territory in crucial part of India's cultural and geographical landscape.
