The Simhastha Kumbh Mela, which takes place once every 12 years, will begin on October 31, 2026, with the traditional flag-hoisting ceremony at Trimbakeshwar, Ramkund, and Panchvati. The festival will continue until July 24, 2028
On Sunday, CM Devendra Fadnavis took the blessings of the mahants and akhada representatives, ahead of the preparatory meeting for next year's Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Trimbakeshwar
The Simhastha Kumbh Mela will feature key events starting with the Nagar Pradakshina in Nashik on July 29, 2027. The first Amrut Snan will take place on August 2, 2027, followed by the second on August 31, 2027. The third and final Amrut Snan will be held in Nashik on September 11, 2027 and at Trimbakeshwar on September 12, 2027. The festival, held once every 12 years, will conclude with the flag-lowering ceremony on July 24, 2028
Chief Minister Fadnavis said the preparatory meeting was attended by seers from all 13 main akhadas and representatives of the Purohit Sangh. He further added that those present were given details about the work being carried out by the state government to organise this mega event, which is one of the largest in the world
