A drove of devotees, both locals and visitors from across India, queued outside the main door of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir to get a glimpse of Ram Lalla.
The temple doors opened to the general public on Tuesday, a day after the consecration of Ram Lalla's idol. The devotees chanted 'Jai Shri Ram' as they entered and exited the temple complex.
A lot of the devotees, who waited outside the temple in the biting cold, carried flags bearing visages of Lord Ram and the chant 'Jai Shri Ram' and were enthusiastic at the prospect of getting Ram Lalla's 'darshan'.
Devotees, who had come from across India, expressed that they felt elated since the dream that generations of their family saw had finally been realised.
An idol of Ram Lalla was consecrated at the Ayodhya Ram Mandir on Monday in a grandeur event that was attended by who's who from spiritual, religious and other sectors. The attendees later got a 'darshan' of the deity.
The event was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who also gave a clarion call for the advent of new era. He had performed a series of rituals in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
The 51-inch idol, made by a Karnataka-based sculptor named Arun Yogiraj, depicts the child Ram. Meanwhile, the temple complex has been decorated with flowers and lights.
The temple complex, which is built in traditional Nagara style, is 380 feet long and 250 feet wide and will eventually rise to 161 feet with the 'shikhar' (top). It is supported by over 300 pillars and has 44 doors.
Scores of people across the globe watched the 'Pran Pratishthan (consecration)' ceremony which was being live broadcasted. The ceremony was held as the nation inches closer to Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Meanwhile, artistes performed folk dances at Ayodhya, palki yatras were taken out across the country with devotional songs dedicated to Lord Ram playing on loudspeakers.
