People were warned not to stand under trees or metal structures and to avoid using mobile phones outside when lightning was active
Meanwhile, Delhi's lowest temperature was 29 degrees Celsius. This was 1.5 degrees higher than what is normal for this time of year
However, the IMD (weather department) predicted that the highest temperature during the day would be around 34 degrees Celsius
Before Tuesday's red alert, Delhi had been under a 'yellow alert' until Thursday. This earlier warning indicated a forecast of light to moderate rain, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, potentially reaching speeds of 50-60 kilometres per hour
Despite heavy rains, Delhi's air quality remained good. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 96 at 9 AM, which is considered 'satisfactory
