He is scheduled to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the foundation’s collaboration with the state in education, health, and agriculture. Agreements related to these sectors are expected to be signed during the meeting, according to an official release.
On 17 March, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Gates at Krishi Bhawan in New Delhi to discuss agriculture and rural development. Chouhan highlighted the potential to deepen collaboration with the Gates Foundation in digital agriculture, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and climate-friendly farming techniques.
Gates' climate group, Breakthrough Energy, has laid off dozens of employees in the US and Europe. The layoffs include the entire European staff, the US public policy team, and staff members responsible for partnerships.
Breakthrough Energy was founded by Gates to accelerate the clean energy transition and drive public policy advocacy. The move follows US President Donald Trump’s push to boost fossil fuels and Republican efforts to roll back parts of Joe Biden’s 2022 climate law, which Gates had supported.
