Amid the ongoing tensions in Manipur, gunfire and violence intensified between the two ethnic groups on Dec 27. Few civilians and security personnel were injured in a gunfight with armed men in Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi villages of Imphal East. In a social media post on X, Manipur CM N Biren Singh on Dec 28 condemned the attack calling it “cowardly and unprovoked”.
