While Western Railway (WR) commuters complained of crowding at stations caused by speed restrictions and cancellations due to ongoing work at Malad station, officials said that cancellations would come down to 60 to 70 by Wednesday morning and normalcy would resume by Friday. A commuter told mid-day, "‘I live in Malad and my office is near Ram Mandir station. I normally catch the 15-coach Virar-Andheri slow local, which arrives at Malad station at 9 am. On Monday, trains were running 20 minutes late due to which the platform was overcrowded. I managed to board the 8.46 am Churchgate-bound slow train at 9.05 am with great difficulty. Ghulam Nabi Azad among early voters, urges people to exercise franchise

Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday appealed to voters to exercise their franchise in the third and last phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. Azad, who was among the early voters here, also said that unemployment is the biggest issue in the union territory but it has not been given due attention by both regional and national parties. The polling for the third phase of the Jammu and Kashmir elections began at 7 am across 40 assembly segments in seven districts: Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba in the Jammu region and Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara in north Kashmir. It will end at 6 pm.
