A child was killed and eight others sustained injuries after their school van was hit by a truck in the Bilhaur area of Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur, an official said on Thursday, the ANI reported on Thursday.

According to the official, the injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
"A sad incident took place today in Kanpur's Bilhaur when a truck rammed into a school van, leading to the death of one child and leaving eight others injured. The injured, meanwhile, were shifted to a local hospital," said Rakesh Kumar Singh, District Magistrate, Kanpur, as per the ANI.
"We have also formed an investigation committee to probe the suitability of the van," he added.
4 killed, 15 injured in road accident in West Bengal's Raiganj
Meanwhile, in an another incident, four persons, including a civic volunteer, died and at least 15 people were injured, after a speeding truck rammed into two vehicles and turned turtle in West Bengal's Uttar Dinajpur district, police said, the PTI reported.
The accident took place late on Wednesday near Tungidighi Bus Stand at Karandighi on National Highway-12, they said.
"The speeding truck first collided with two moving vehicles before it overturned, killing the civic volunteer and three people including a cyclist, and injuring 15 others," a senior police officer said, as per the PTI.
The injured are undergoing treatment at the Raiganj Medical College and Hospital.
The driver of the truck has also been hospitalised, the officer added.
Tourist bus hits truck in Odisha, 15 injured
At least 15 tourists from West Bengal were injured when the bus in which they were travelling met with an accident on NH-60 in Odisha's Balasore district on Thursday, police said, the PTI reported.
The bus carrying around 65 passengers was on the way to Bankura in Bengal's Birbhum district from Puri when it hit a truck while overtaking it near Nidhipanda in Balasore district, police said.
The passengers, majority of whom sustained minor injuries, were taken to Balasore district headquarters hospital, police added.
The Balasore district administration has made arrangements to send the passengers back to Bengal, an official said.
