In continuation of the investigation of the case related to the scam in the sheep distribution scheme, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, arrested two more officials in the Criminal Misappropriation Case on May 31, the ACB said in a release on Friday.

According to the release, the case was registered against the officials of the Animal Husbandry Department, i.e. Sabavath Ramchander, a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Telangana State Livestock Development Agency (TSLDA) and Gundamaraju Kalyan Kumar, who was the former OSD for the then Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, Fisheries, and Cinematography, Hyderabad, who colluded and conspired with private persons and resorted to gross illegal acts and violations in the course of discharge of their duties.

They violated all the instructions issued for the procurement of sheep and deliberately involved private persons/brokers in the procurement process. With a malafide intention, both deliberately gave instructions to all district joint directors and DVAHOs of the Animal Husbandry Department to facilitate the misappropriation of government money by private persons.

Thus, Ramchander, Gundamaraju and private persons illegally obtained undue advantage, caused wrongful loss to the government exchequer, and thus misappropriated government funds worth Rs. 2.10 crore. As such, the duo performed their official duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage, causing a huge revenue loss to the government exchequer.

Therefore, the two accused officers were arrested on Friday at around 16.00 hrs. and produced before the First Addl. Special Judge, for A.C.B. cases in Hyderabad for judicial remand.

The case is under investigation.
