Amid buzz around cabinet reshuffle, Union minister Thaawarchand Gehlot was on Tuesday appointed as the Karnataka governor. Among the other appointments were BJP leaders Hari Babu Kambhampati (Mizoram), Mangubhai Chaganbhai Patel (Madhya Pradesh) and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar (Himachal Pradesh).


Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Gehlot, 73, will replace Vajubhai Vala, who has been the governor of Karnataka since 2014.


Among the reshuffles, Haryana Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya was transferred and appointed as Tripura's governor. Tripura Governor Ramesh Bais has been transferred and appointed as Jharkhand governor.


These appointments will be in effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices.
