As the year nears its end, most car showrooms are offering special discounts to woo customers

Car showrooms in the city are offering attractive discounts to clear stocks as the year nears its end.

Many showrooms are telling buyers that not only do they save money by buying now, but they also benefit
when they sell the car after some years at the depreciated value calculated on the regular price.

"Mahindra Xylo is a good deal. At this time, Scorpio and Bolero are more in demand. I personally suggest to costumers this is a good deal, as we don't mention the discount price in the invoice and so they can get the best price while reselling," said team leader Deshikachra Babu of SKS Automobiles India Private Ltd,
Bannerugatta.

Honda cars don't have such an offer, but you can get free insurance with them.

"We have not put up any special offers on Honda cars and we never think of doing so. Other car showrooms offer discounts because of high stocks, but customers have kept up the usual demand for Honda City and Civic," said Aadarsha, a marketing manager of the Honda showroom near Mekri Circle.

Shanthkumar of Mondovi Motors said, "We have exclusive offers on Wagon R, Alto and Ritz (Diesel), which are most in demand. Usually we give such offers for the year-end with the objective of selling more of these models. No one should have any worries about the resale price. The thing is, the resale value will depend on the car's regular, official price."

Tata and Fiat cars also have some good offers.

"We have given attractive offers on Tata and Fiat cars on select models such as Indica, Vista and Manza, where customers can get up to Rs 20,000 off, an extended warranty and be part of a lucky bumper draw," said Madhusudhan, the general manager of the Concord Motors. "Also, Fiat Punto and Lenia have up to Rs 23,000 discount with road service and five-year extended warranty. This is a special plan to clear these models of 2008-09. Yes, it benefits the customer to buy at these prices and sell after 4-5 years."

Prasanna, team leader of the Teseaces Ltd, of Skoda, St Marks Road, said, "We have good offers on the loan interest at 6.99 per cent, and free insurance. Also, Skoda Laura has up to Rs 25, 000 discount and Fabia has up to Rs 30,000."
