Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, however, did not say whether the party will participate in the June 24 meeting or not. Invitations have been sent out to 14 political leaders from J&K for a meeting at Modi’s residence in New Delhi at 3 pm on June 24. The meeting is expected to set the road map for holding assembly polls in J&K.
National Conference leader Nasir Aslam Wani on Sunday said party chief Farooq Abdullah will discuss with his senior colleagues and a decision to attend the meeting will be declared by Monday. The Peoples Democratic Party’s political affairs committee on Sunday authorised Mehbooba Mufti to take a call on the invitation.
The June 24 meeting will be Modi’s first interaction with all the political parties of J&K since August 5, 2019, when the Centre abrogated the state’s special status and bifurcated it into two Union territories.
