Three men who allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Akola city were arrested on Monday, a police official told PTI.

The girl was tricked and taken to a youth hostel in the city, where the trio allegedly raped her on June 7, said assistant inspector of the Civil Line police station Mahendra Shinde.

According to the reports from PTI, the accused were identified as Ankush Wakhte (25), Anurag Chaudhary (20), and Deepak Madavi (25), said Shinde.

The girl reportedly left home on June 7 but did not return. Her worried family members launched a search, and when they could not find her, they filed a missing complaint at the Civil Line police station, reported PTI.

As the agency reported, the girl returned home the next day, on June 8, and narrated the ordeal to her family, said the police.

Based on the family's complaint, the police lodged a gang-rape case and arrested the accused, who were booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act), they said. The trio was reportedly produced before a local court, which sent them to jail.

Thane Rape Case

A case had been registered against an unidentified person for allegedly raping a woman after rendering her unconscious onboard an express train in Maharashtra's Thane district, an official from the Government Railway Police (GRP) said on Friday, according to the PTI.

The victim had alleged that she was traveling by Uttar Pradesh-bound Tulsi Express on March 10 when an unidentified person administered a harmful substance to render her unconscious and allegedly raped her, the official said, as per the PTI.

According to the PTI, the woman had claimed that the assault took place 40 minutes after the train left the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla in Mumbai and arrived at the Thane railway station.

The complainant approached the GRP in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, in April, 39 days after the alleged incident, and from there, the complaint was forwarded to Thane after 21 days, she said, as the news agency reported on Friday.

The Thane GRP, on Thursday, registered a case under sections 328 (causing hurt by means of poison, etc., with intent to commit an offense) and 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code for the incident that took place in March, senior inspector Archana Dhusane said, the PTI reported.

As no CCTV footage was available from LTT, the police checked the reservation charts of the Tulsi Express train and two other trains that left the station at the same time, the official said.
