Maharashtra Government on Tuesday announced a 15-day long statewide curfew from April 14 amid the spike in coronavirus cases in the state.


The curfew, which excludes essential services, will come into effect from 8 pm on Wednesday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said in his address via social media to people of the state.


Here are the restrictions for the ‘lockdown-style’ curfew:


  • Section 144 will be imposed across the state from 8pm, Wednesday.
  • Private vehicles can ply only for essential/emergency purposes.
  • Public transport will be allowed with the following restrictions - Autos: Driver + 2 passengers; Taxi: Driver + 50% of vehicle capacity; Bus: Full capacity but no standing passengers allowed.
  • Trains and flights will be allowed.
  • Schools and colleges across the state will be shut.
  • Ecommerce to be allowed only for delivery of essential items.
  • Restaurants, hotels across the state to remain closed. Home delivery and take away allowed.
  • Cinema halls, drama theatres, clubs, swimming pools, gyms, amusement parks to remain shut.
  • No shooting of movies, serials, commercials will be allowed.
  • Public places like beaches, garden etc. to remain closed. Barber shops, salons to remain closed. Places of worship to remain closed.
  • Weddings allowed with maximum 25 people, funerals with 20.
  • Decision on domestic workers, drivers will be taken by local authorities.
