Maharashtra: Leopard trapped in snare trap rescued by NGO

A local resident spotted the leopard trapped in the wires after which he immediately informed the NGO which rush to the spot along with the forest department

Maharashtra: Leopard trapped in snare trap rescued by NGO

The leopard has been successfully rescued and is being treated by veterinarians

Timely intervention done by the NGO SARRP- Sindhudurg along with the Maharashtra Forest Department has helped in saving the life of a leopard that had got trapped in a wire snare at Koloshi village near Kankavli in Sindhudurg district.


A local resident spotted the leopard trapped in the wires after which he immediately informed the NGO which rush to the spot along with the forest department.


Chita Pednekar from NGO SARRP said, "A full grown leopard had got caught in a snare trap set for wildboars/ bush hunting at post Koloshi, Tal-Kankavli, Dist- Sindhudurg. Our team along with the forest department rescued the leopard successfully."


Dr Clement Ben, the chief conservator of forests (Territorial) Kolhapur told mid-day that the leopard has been successfully rescued and is being treated by veterinarians.
