Parliament continued to witness disruptions over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in which eight people, including four farmers, were killed. Opposition parties demanded the removal of Union minister of state for home affairs Ajay Mishra. The opposition parties have become more aggressive after a Special Investigation Team probing the violence called the October 3 violence a “planned conspiracy”. Minister Mishra’s son Ashish is the prime accused in the case. He is behind bars.

Terming the incident a “murder”, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reiterated his demand for removal of Ajay Mishra as Minister of State for Home Affairs and alleged that the minister who killed farmers should resign and be punished. Speaking at the Lok Sabha, the Wayanad MP said, “We should be allowed to speak about the murder that was committed in Lakhimpur Kheri, where there was an involvement of the Minister and about which it has been said that it was a conspiracy.”
