JDU MP Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh claimed that he was confident in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which is run by the BJP. He stated that all of the leaders in attendance at the conference had renewed their support for PM Narendra Modi and that he ought to be appointed prime minister three times. Singh underlined that the constituent parties are unified in their support for Modi to take the oath of office for a third term as prime minister following the alliance's victory in the Lok Sabha elections.

"Leaders of all the constituent parties were present in the NDA meeting and everyone has said that we are with the Prime Minister and for the third time, he should take the oath as soon as possible," Singh said. Reiterating the support for Modi, Singh added, "We are strongly with the Prime Minister. We are strongly with the NDA."

A meeting of the NDA parliamentary party will be called shortly, Singh said while outlining the forthcoming procedural measures. "In that meeting, the leader of the NDA parliamentary party will be chosen. Only then will the claim to form the government be made," he explained.

Wednesday's NDA meeting was the first of its sort since the alliance's victory for a majority. The coalition's unity was strengthened by the presence of Narendra Modi at the assembly along with prominent members of the NDA and Bharatiya Janata Party.

PM Modi became the prime minister for the third time in a row because the NDA leaders trusted him enough to name him the alliance's leader.

After the meeting, Modi said that NDA will further national progress and fulfil regional aspirations. "We will serve the 140 crore people of India and work towards building a Viksit Bharat," PM said in a post on X, following a crucial meeting at his residence in Delhi," he said in a post on X.After taking part in the National Democratic Alliance meeting in the national capital on Wednesday to discuss the formation of the new government, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu affirmed that the TDP is with NDA.

Speaking about the meeting, Naidu expressed his satisfaction with the BJP's top leadership. When questioned if he was a member of the NDA, Naidu responded, "How can we run for office if we're not in the NDA? We battled this as a team." Notably, NDA leaders unanimously passed a resolution in the meeting, electing Narendra Modi as their leader.

BJP President JP Nadda, BJP Leaders Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, along with the Party's allies, such as Chief of the Janata Dal (United) Nitish Kumar, Leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) N Chandrababu Naidu, Chief of the Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde, Leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) HD Kumaraswamy, Chief of the Janasena Party Pawan Kalyan, Leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) Chirag Paswan, and Leader of the Nationalist Congress Party Praful Patel were present at the meeting.

Given that the backing of their respective parties is essential for the BJP to form government, Naidu and Nitish Kumar's attendance at the NDA summit is a noteworthy development. This time, the BJP was 32 seats shy of the 272 majority needed to form a government, meaning it would have to rely on its partners. The Election Commission of India said on Tuesday that the BJP had secured 240 seats while the Congress secured 99 seats. In the general elections of 2014, the BJP won 282 seats, and in the general elections of 2019, it won 303 seats.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu dissolved the 17th Lok Sabha on Wednesday after the recommendation of the Union Cabinet."The President accepted the advice of the Cabinet on June 5, 2024, and signed the Order dissolving the 17th Lok Sabha in the exercise of the powers conferred upon her by Sub-Clause (2) of Article 85 of the Constitution," a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
