The Delhi Police is likely to write to WhatsApp and Facebook to retrieve the last three years' data of the IDs belonging to Mohammed Ansar Sheikh, the prime accused in the Jahangirpuri violence.

Sources privy to the investigation revealed that mirror image of the WhatsApp data will be retrieved by them with the help of FSL officials. They are likely to get the FSL report within a week.

During the probe the crime branch learnt that Ansar was running a Facebook account with the name of Raj Malhotra. Now, the officials want the deleted data of last three years of his ID.

"This will be crucial to know who he was chatting with. Why he was keeping a Hindu name. Also, if he was in touch with gangsters or any terror outfit, we will be able to know. This data will play a crucial role in unearthing the entire conspiracy.

"With WhatsApp data we will be able to know who he was chatting with mostly, had he planned such things earlier or not. The WhatsApp data will reveal about his network which is also crucial," said a source.

The police said that they are also checking how many numbers he changed during the last three years. The sources said that if possible they will write to other social media sites, if they come to know that Ansar was active on their platforms.

On April 16, clashes broke out between two groups belonging to different communities, during a Shobha Yatra on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area. As many as eight police personnel and a civilian sustained injuries in the violence.

The Delhi Police on Sunday arrested Ansar and he is currently in police remand. The Crime Branch is trying to unearth how deep rooted was the conspiracy behind the Jahangirpuri violence.
