India sees rise in daily Covid-19 cases

India sees rise in daily Covid-19 cases

The number of daily Covid-19 cases across India rose to 22,431, after a drop below 20,000 for the past few days, according to the Union health ministry’s data updated on Thursday morning. The Centre on Wednesday had confirmed 18,833 fresh infections.


The daily death toll also increased to 318 from 278 the day before. The active cases, however, continued to decline and was 2,44,198. 



Health Ministry’s joint secretary Lav Agarwal warned people about the threat of Covid-19 resurgence during the festival and wedding season and advised them to avoid crowded places and celebrate festivals virtually. “Please watch your October, November, December,” he said.


“We cannot take the current stable situation for granted. We have to be mindful of the fact that the pandemic is going on and can take an untoward turn if we are not careful,” an official said at a joint media briefing.
