HSC, SSC result dates keep students on the edge

With the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) yet to decide on the dates when they will declare the SSC and HSC results, students who appeared for the exams are having a nerve-wracking experience.

No delay? MSBSHSE officials said that even last year, the board had declared HSC results on May 30 and SSC results on June 7

The CBSE and CISCE Boards have already declared their results, except for CBSE class XII, while the MSBSHSE is yet to announce even the tentative result dates, prolonging the suspense for nearly 31 lakh students across the state.
Board officials, however, said that an announcement will be made in the coming days.

“We will declare the HSC result date in 2-3 days.
The SSC results will take some time and will be declared around June 10,” said Gangadhar Mhamane, chairman, MSBSHSE.

Asked if the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections had any impact, Mhamane said, “No, the elections have not impacted the results. A look at last year’s result date also proves that the declaration of results has not been delayed this year.” Last year, the board had declared HSC results on May 30 and SSC results on June 7.

When the board chairman was informed that the CISCE board had declared both class X and class XII results last week, while CBSE’s class X was declared and class XII is expected in the coming week, he replied, “See, there cannot be any comparison between other boards. CBSE had declared their class X results region-wise. In comparison to the state board, both CBSE and ICSE have fewer students.”

Uncertain
Although the HSC result announcement is expected this week, a top official of the state board told mid-day that preparation of the final report on results is still ongoing. “Until the computerised report consisting of statistical data of all nine divisional boards is ready, the board will not be in a position to announce the result date. Once this report is finalised, the result can be declared online on the next day,” the board official said.

Plans impacted
Meanwhile, anxious students say the board should at least announce the exact result dates, so that they can make plans for their future accordingly.

“I want to pursue a career in fine arts by securing admission in a reputed college in Pune on the basis of my SSC
marks. Now, the college is telling us that they will distribute admission forms only after class X results. It’s a testing time as all my future plans depend on my class X marks,” said Krishna Wageshwari, a SSC student based
in Aurangabad.

Another class X student Shreyas Pandit said, “My other friends, who appeared for the CBSE and ICSE board exams are relaxed now, as their results were declared last week. On the contrary, the next two weeks will be difficult for me. The suspense is killing me.”
