Meanwhile, in an another incident on Thursday, one person was killed and four others were injured after a fire broke out in a chemical factory at Badlapur MIDC in Maharashtra's Thane district on Thursday morning. While the fire was eventually brought under control, the cause of fire is being investigated, the fire officials said.
Three tempos parked outside the chemical company were completely engulfed in flames within minutes of the fire's outbreak, they said.
The incident was reported at VK Chemical Company in Kharvai MIDC of Badlapur on Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
"Five workers were injured during the fire, and they were shifted to a nearby hospital. Among the injured, four were from the VK Chemical Company, while one worker tragically lost his life. The fire rapidly spread to adjacent companies in the vicinity," an official said.
Bhagwat Sonawane, a fire official at the scene said, "The fire control room received a call at 4:30 am about the fire. Within 15 minutes, we reached the spot and found there were huge blasts and flames. Accordingly, we sought help from Ambernath and Ulhasnagar and started cooling the fire. Within two hours, our team successfully controlled the fire. Two companies adjoining the VK Chemical Company were also affected due to the fire. A company behind VK company was impacted by the fire."
Sonawane further confirmed four injuries and one fatality, with the victims shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. "Around three tempos were burnt in the fire. Also, the impact was huge, as there were chemical tanks inside the company, resulting in a blast. The impact of the blast was so significant that it was noticed by residents 3 to 4 kilometers away," added another fire official.
