Celebrations are pending at the fashion house of ace designer duo ‘the boys’ Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, as Sandeep’s niece (his sister Benu Kumar’s daughter), the pretty young CEO of their fashion label, Saudamini Mattu, got engaged over the weekend.

Saudamini, who took over the reins a couple of years ago, has since taken the brand to greater heights as well as made it attractive to a younger audience, often keeping it relevant to the changing times.

The proud uncle, Sandeep, took to social media and posted a picture of Saudamini and her fiancé Siddharth, congratulating the couple, and friends Nachiket Barve, Susanne Khan, Kalyani Chawla, Aarti Shetty, Dipti Sandesera, Shalini Sharma, Rita Dhody and Pamela Grover amongst others wished the couple on a social media platform. We wish the couple well!

What’s in a name?
Guests at a gala banquet at a five-star in in Dubai were agog with excitement on Monday night when one of the new entrants swore he’d spotted Deepika Padukone check in with Ranbir Kapoor.

Comments ranged from “My Gosh! Are they back together?” to “They were meant to be.” Of course, the excitement quelled considerably, when it was learnt that through a process of Chinese whispers, that the information had been miscommunicated. Padukone had checked in with none other than her current beau, actor Ranveer Singh, and the couple was in Dubai for an awards function.

Still, it had been an electric moment to imagine the alternative possibility, before everyone settled back in to some ordinary star gawking.

Curry awards
Baron Gulam Noon, MBE, the Mumbai boy who went on to become the highly decorated and successful ‘Curry King’ of London, was honoured posthumously this week, when his daughter Zeenat Noon Harnal received a special award at the 2016 British Curry awards from Sarah, the Duchess of York, in memory of him on behalf of the Indian food industry.

The late Baron, who died last year after a colourful intercontinental life (he had survived not only a debilitating factory fire in 1994, but also the Taj terror attack in 2008), had also emerged relatively unscathed from the ‘Cash for Peerages’ scandal when it emerged that he had loaned £250,000 to the Labour Party. In keeping with the theme of the occasion, the duchess had worn a saree, and rather gracefully, it appears.

Big birthday celebrations
KP Singh, the Delhi-based patriarch of the DLF clan, recently hosted a gala dinner for his wife’s 80th birthday, where he had AR Rahman perform.

The party, held at the DLF Golf Course in Gurgaon, is said to have been spectacular by all accounts, with sound and light shows and fireworks, with Rahman being paid a whopping Rs 3 crore for his stint.

Unfortunately though, the birthday girl who’d had a nasty fall prior to the event and had broken her femur had to attend on a wheelchair. But that did not stop her from basking in the love and celebratory cheer from family and friends.

Mickey Mehta honoured
It’s been quite a fortnight for holistic health guru Mickey Mehta. Last week, the alternative health evangelist was invited as guest speaker by Sri Lanka’s Medicina Alternativa, affiliated to The Open International University for Complementary Medicines, where he is said to have delivered a three-hour presentation on the theory of karmic debt cleansing, the nuances of soul software and, the science of prayers.

“His inimitable style and exuberance also drew the attention of the guest of honour, former Pakistan chief of army staff Ashfaq Parvez Kayani,” says a spokesperson.

On the following day, Mehta received his second honorary doctorate conferred by the university along with the peace award conferred by SUNFO (Sri Lanka United Nations Friendship organisation), and was inducted as a senate member for global Medicina Alternativa.
