The Coronavirus vaccine administration is rapidly increasing in the country every month, with a total of 13.45 crore doses administered in July which also saw a remarkable daily average of 43.41 lakh doses, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday. The cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country crossed the 50 crore-mark on Friday. 


Over 2.29 cr balance doses



More than 2.29 crore balance and unutilised Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories and private hospitals, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday. Over 51.66 crore (51,66,13,680) vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far, through all sources and a further 55,52,070 doses are in the pipeline. Of this, the total consumption, including wastages, is 49,74,90,815 doses. The union government is committed to accelerate the pace and expand the scope of  vaccination, it said.


HC seeks Delhi govt stand

The Delhi High Court has sought responses of the Delhi government and the IRDA on a plea by a woman and her two minor children challenging an insurance firm’s decision not to pay the entire insured amount on her husband’s death after contracting Covid-19. Justice Rekha Palli issued a notice to the Delhi government, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA), the National Insurance Company Ltd and Fortis Hospital at Shalimar Bagh, where the woman’s husband died last year.

Mizoram caps Covid testing 

The continued blockade on National Highway 306 from the Assam side has led to the shortage of Covid-19 testing reagents in Mizoram, said state information and public relations Minister Lalruatkima on Saturday. 

J&J vax gets Emergency Use approval in India

Johnson & Johnson’s single-dose Covid-19 vaccine has been given Emergency Use approval in India, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Saturday. “Now India has five EUA vaccines. This will further boost our nation’s collective fight against #Covid19,” the minister tweeted.
